Mission Statement:

The International Virtual Exchange Consortium (IVEC) is a global, inclusive community of virtual exchange practitioners, researchers, and professionals that provides a forum for dialogue and growth. The community aims to advance pedagogy and research in virtual exchange through networking, hosting an annual conference, sharing best practices and supporting professional development. IVEC is shaped by a range of stakeholders engaged in virtual exchange from thought leaders to emerging voices.

What we do:

IVEC's primary activity is hosting the annual IVEC Conference. Since 2019, the IVEC Conference has provided a forum for professors, administrators, students, and technical staff from institutions around the world interested in the growing practice of virtual exchange. Each year, we alternate between a fully online conference and a hybrid in-person conference that enables virtual participation. The 2026 conference will be fully online and hosted by the Modern University for Business & Science, based in Lebanon.

These are the services we provide to the field:

We host an annual conference, and we are exploring new ways to advance our shared work throughout the year.

It is important to convey the scale and scope of your organization’s work. Please share with our members relevant data about the past year. You can indicate either the number of courses you supported, the number of instructors you trained, the number of students you worked with, the number of institutions you engaged or the number of your members, if you are a membership organization.

Scope of Work

Over the past year our organization has supported/engaged 500 instructors.

The IVEC conference has continued to grow over its five year history and we anticipate continuing to serve the growing field of virtual exchange practitioners, participants, researchers, and administrators in the years to come. We strive to stay involved in a variety of virtual exchange organizations in order to keep conference content and activities relevant to the developing field.

Discussion of Costs and Fees

Attendees (including presenters) must register for the IVEC conference. Ticket prices vary for attendees in high-income countries and attendees in low- and middle-income countries, according to the World Bank. In addition to paid registration, we offer scholarships to those for whom the ticket price would limit their ability to participate. There are also discounted tickets for students and for groups registering together.
